Today's British English spellings follow, for the most part, those of Samuel Johnson's A Dictionary of the English Language (1755), whereas many American English spellings follow Noah Webster's An American Dictionary of the English Language (1828). Different spellings for different pronunciations, in a few cases, basically the same word have a different spelling that reflects a different pronunciation. However, in most cases the pronunciation of the words is the same.
To speak English well, all you need is good expressions, a nice accent, and good grammar. To write English well, you need vocabulary, grammar, a perceptive of punctuation and good at English Spelling.
Many people get confused between British and American English Spellings as there are several areas in which British and American spellings are different. Dictionaries have played an important role in reconcile the English Spelling of words. However, they inclined to record accepted usage at the time; as usage constantly changes, the dissimilarity between "right" and "wrong" is not always clear.
